The
Adopt-A-Family Program
The Adopt-A-Family
program is a 24-month comprehensive transitional housing program that
serves homeless families by providing the resources needed to become
self-sufficient while preserving the family, maintaining self-respect
and instilling hope.
In 1990, the Community Enrichment
Center challenged Tarrant County churches to “adopt” one family with a
realization that housing alone is not sufficient to reverse a life of
poverty. Since its inception, churches, businesses, human service
organization, public jurisdictions and individuals throughout the county
have joined in the partnership to help more than 1,000 families.
The program now owns 64 houses and 16
townhouses and has access to additional properties. These housing units
are located throughout the county, including Fort Worth, Arlington, and
the mid-cities area.
What is the Adopt-A-Family service area
and who benefits from the program?
The Adopt-A-Family Program serves
homeless families whose last residence was within Tarrant County, Texas
and these families must have at least one child under the age of 16.
Program participants must be ready to make positive changes in their
lives to become independent and self-sufficient. If you are interested
in applying for the program please see the application requirements.
